Denise & Carrie made learning to play so easy & fun! Loved the instruction & tips boards they brought, easy to see & understand! I highly recommend you give it a try. We all loved it!

Thank you for an amazing mah-jong experience! As a beginner, I found it so informative as you took us through each of the steps, from the history of the game all the way to the play! I especially enjoyed the visual learning along with the step-by-step explanation. It certainly helps you understand the concept and stays with you longer. I definitely give Mahjong Mingle an A+ for their instruction!"

If you are looking for something educational & fun I highly recommend learning to play Mahjong! Carrie & Denise are great teachers (their experience was evident) and more importantly they are very patient with everyone’s questions. So take a break from binging tv shows and come out to a session- you won’t regret it.

Mahjong Mingle does a great job of walking a beginner Mahjong player through the history of the game, the rules, what all the tiles mean, how they can be used and provides great tip sheets for the players. In addition, she provides you with a winning hand so you can see it and determine which hand it is on the 2026 Mahjong card. Thank you for a great experience, I can’t wait to play again!

I absolutely loved the Mahjong Mingle Open Play event hosted by Carrie and Denise! They created such a welcoming, fun, and relaxed atmosphere, and you could tell how much thought and enthusiasm they put into making the event enjoyable for everyone. Even though I already know how to play Mahjong, I was surprised by how much I learned. There were so many helpful tips and little nuances that added to my understanding and appreciation of the game. Carrie and Denise did an incredible job bringing everyone together and creating an event that was both educational and social. I left having learned something new, met some wonderful people, and had a great time. Highly recommended!

As a senior citizen, I have researched how important it is to keep your brain growing and active by learning new things, and this class was the perfect combination of fun, learning, and mental stimulation. Carrie and Denise are experienced, patient, and engaging teachers who made learning Mahjong easy and enjoyable. The class was fun, informative, and definitely brain-engaging! I highly recommend Mahjong Mingle to anyone looking for a fun new skill, a great social experience, and a wonderful way to keep your mind active.

MAHJONG FEVER!!!!! It’s all the craze! So I set out to learn how to play. I enrolled in a two hour lesson elsewhere and although I enjoyed it, I really found it confusing. I then decided to take another lesson with this Mahjong Mingle and I could not believe the difference in the teaching format. Denise made it far more clear, concise and understanding. I finished the lesson with a far better understanding of the game… I give Mahjong Mingle five stars.

I had heard about Mahjong but literally knew nothing about it. I decided to take a lesson from Mahjong Mingle. Denise and Carrie are former school teachers and you could tell the minute we walked into their class. There were large poster boards showing every tile and what they mean. They then gave us a winning hand, a tip sheet and a 2026 Mahjong Card to help us understand how to win. We then played a game where she walked around to each of us helping us with our strategies on how to win. It’s a tough game but under their tutelage I came out of the class with a great understanding on how to play the game and look forward to playing again.

We had such a great experience taking the beginner Mahjong class with Denise and Carrie! They were both so friendly, patient, and welcoming, and did an amazing job giving clear, easy-to-understand instructions. Mahjong is a complicated game to learn, but they broke everything down and explained it in a way that made it much less intimidating. We had so much fun learning and playing, and we can’t wait to take another lesson with them! Highly recommend Denise and Carrie to anyone wanting to learn Mahjong!

Why do we recommend these sets and mats?

It’s surprisingly easy to end up with the wrong Mahjong set. A lot of what’s sold online looks right at first glance but uses Chinese tiles that don’t work for American Mahjong.

We only recommend sets that include the proper American Mahjong tiles, including Jokers and the full 166-tile count, making them easy and enjoyable to play with! We also love pairing them with a simple mat. It keeps everything organized and makes learning the game feel a little less overwhelming. These sets also include the bags, racks and dice.

Buying through our links means you’re getting a set we’ve already checked for you. No guessing, no returns, just a smooth start to the game.
